INDOOR RULES

MODIFICATIONS from the LAWS OF CRICKET

  • Each team bats for a set period of time (36 minutes) or 12 overs.

  • Bowler bowls from run-up no longer than 10 yards.

  • Each bowler will be limited to 2 overs.

  • Ball - PVC Soft Plastic Ball

  • Fielding Restrictions: First 4 overs - Powerplay - Only 2 Fielders allowed outside of the Fielding Restriction Area. For the remaining overs 4 fielders (including 1 slip fielder) must be within the Fielding Restriction Area at all times. See Diagram Below. There must be at least 4 fielders on each side of the field. If there are 10 fielders, 1 fielder must stand in a slip fielding position.

  • NEW: WIDE and NO BALL - First two in the over will be re-bowled. Thereafter 2 RUNs (plus any additional runs completed by the batters)  awarded to the batter - ball will be NOT re-bowled.
All WIDES and NO BALLs will be re-bowled in the last over of each inning.

  • WIDE delivery: Any bowled ball that passes outside of the wide marker or behind the batter will be considered WIDE. A batter can be OUT - Stumped on a WIDE ball.

  • Persistent bowling of WIDE balls, may lead to a 5 RUN PENALTY for unfair play.

  • NO BALL: If the bowler oversteps the bowling line, “throws” or “chucks” the ball, or bowls the ball over the batter’s waist. “NO BALL” is called, the batter can score runs without risk of being OUT (except by run out). The next ball will be a FREE HIT - which means the batter can play the ball without fear of being dismissed - except by run out. If the bowler’s over ends before the FREE HIT, the 1st ball of the next over will be a FREE HIT.

  • Innings Last Over - Umpire will declare the last over with 4 minutes left in the innings. Both the bowler and batters will be informed. No new over to be bowled after 35 minutes.

  • BYES: runs taken because the ball is missed by the wicketkeeper.

  • LEG BYES: runs taken because the batter offered a shot, but missed and the ball hit their legs and rolled to a safe spot.

  • The batter is OUT when bowled, caught, run out, stumped, hit roof or hit wicket

  • Leg before wicket (LBW) will not be enforced. A fourth stump has been added to the wicket. Batters who move across to block the stumps may dissuade the umpire from giving a WIDE, especially down the leg side.

TOURNAMENT SPECIFIC RULES

THE TEAM

  • Teams are made up of minimum Eight (8) players - The remaining players will play according to the following guidelines:
